BOYBAND McFly have confirmed they will switch on the Trafford Centre’s Christmas lights next week.

The band, which includes former Thornleigh Salesian College and Bury College pupil Danny Jones, will be joined at the event by Bolton’s Olympic hero Jason Kenny.

Thousands of shoppers are expected to watch McFly switch on more than £1 million worth of animatronic decorations on Thursday, at 7pm.

Also appearing on the main stage of the Orient food court will be the British three-piece R&B girl band Stooshe, The Voice finalist Tyler James, and CBBC star Mister Maker.

A number of London 2012 Olympians and Paralympians will also be at the event, including cycling champion Kenny, Sarah Storey, swimmer Heather Fredrickson and taekwondo star Jade Jones.

The event will be hosted by Key 103 presenters Mike Toolan and Chelsea Spokes.

Tony Sheehan, Trafford Centre general manager, said: “We are delighted to have secured the incredible McFly as our headline act for the annual Christmas Lights Switch On. We are expecting a really exciting stage show from them.”

Sometimes you hear a song and you just know that it's going to be stuck in your head all day long – and not in an annoying, advert-jingle type of way, either. McFly's new single Love Is Easy is one of those songs, and the boys have gone and made an equally brilliant video to go with it.
Looking dapper in their suits and singing at a pleasingly close distance from the camera, Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry take us on a mini-journey of McFly past and present, with cheeky references to past album covers and their winning appearances on I'm A Celeb… and Strictly. We also like the fact that the boys invited their fans to take part in the video, and that they put up a sweet message to them at the end. The lyrics are cute and catchy, the melody classic and heart-warming McFly AND they all look super-hot in their matching finery.
In short, they make it very easy for us to fall in love with them – and the video. Tom admitted earlier today on Twitter that he thinks it may even be his favourite of all the McFly videos. We still like the Please, Please, Please one ourselves. For naked reasons.

Get set for a brilliant Twitter chat with our favourite McFly boys Dougie Poynter and Tom Fletcher who have just published their first children’s book The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas.

Dougie’s fascinated by reptiles, Tom loves Christmas, and they have a shared obsession with poop! The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas is a story of just what happens when a baby dinosaur’s appetite runs away with itself and the things he has to do to return Christmas back where it belongs…but possibly not quite as clean and pristine as before!

The book is a modern Christmas classic with a strong moral about the dangers of being greedy and truly appreciating the value of Christmas. After writing songs together for nine years, Tom and Dougie wrote this book in the same way that they write their song lyrics.

They said: “We both know that as kids we would have loved this book and so we hope that when children and parents read it they laugh as much as we did when we wrote it. Smelly Christmas everyone.”

We’re super excited to be welcoming the boys for fun morning chat so make sure you join us and don’t forget to tweet us your book-related questions for the boys!

Dougie and Tom will be joining us at 11am but don’t worry if you can’t make it at that time. You can tweet your questions to us in advance on Friday morning, just remember to use the hashtag #AskMcFly.

When: Friday 26 October. The boys will join us at 11am

Where: Follow @Tescomagazine

Hashtag: #AskMcFly

Prizes: We will have x10 signed copies of The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas up for grabs and everyone who tweets a question between 11am and 12pm using the #AskMcFly hashtag will be entered into the draw.
