McFly boys Dougie Poynter and Tom Fletcher joined us for a lively and hilarious Twitter chat on @Tescomagazine talking about their brand new children’s book The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas!

Our chat was so popular, we managed to get the hashtag #AskMcFly trending worldwide! A huge thank you to Dougie and Tom, and to everyone that asked a question. Now read on to find out their answers…

Q: @hannahclarkeee Will you be doing any book signings for The Dinosaur That Pooped Christmas?
A: Yes we are! Two next week: Waterstones in Bluewater on Thurs 1st Nov 11am and Sat 3rd Nov at WHSmith in Guildford.

A: A very handsome guy called Garry Parsons – he’s the illustrator of the book.

Q: @AnneMawsonX If you could be any animal what would you be?
A: Tom says he would be dinosaur, Dougie says he would be a gorilla – they’d re-enact the scene from King Kong!

Q: @poynterswaggie Why did you choose danny to be the kid’s name?
A: We’ve been asked that a lot – we don’t know any other names except Harry and Danny!

A: We’d love to do that – they could come with poop accessories!

Q: @carolaocubo What other Jurassic creatures would you like to put in a book?
A: Probably a plant – I have a plant that was around when the dinosaurs were around (Dougie).

McFly’s hotly anticipated ‘Love is Easy’ video was debuted this morning online but you’ll have to wait until November 11 to get your hands on it!

The track is the first piece of new material since 2010′s album Above The Noise and is set to be a chart success.

The footage sees the boy’s relive career highlights and discography in a kitsch stage-show. The band show off their past awards and personal successes; Danny Jones flaunts McFly’s Brit Award, whilst bassist Dougie Poynter models his I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here crown and drummer Harry Judd reminds us of his Strictly Come Dancing trophy.

The changing backdrops are nostalgic reminders of just how far the band have come since 2004′s Room On The 3rd Floor with fans invited to join the video.

The retrospective marks the return of the four-piece to the music scene and follows revelations of auto-biography ‘Unsaid Things – Our Story’ about the guy’s tumultuous private lives as well as their risque ways at the beginning of their pop journey.

The forthcoming greatest hits album Memory Lane: The Best of McFly, IS available November 26.

Glad to see the matching suits are back (again)!

McFly – ‘Love Is Easy’:

McFly have unveiled their new music video online.

The band will release ‘Love Is Easy’ on November 11 as the lead cut from their upcoming retrospective collection Memory Lane: The Best of McFly.

The accompanying music video sees the four-piece put on a stage show chronicling their career highlights and achievements.

Danny Jones is seen accepting the band’s Brit Awards, while Harry Judd twirls with his Strictly Come Dancing trophy.

The group also re-enact poses from their various album covers in front of backdrops.

Memory Lane: The Best of McFly will be released on November 26 and will include new cuts ‘Do Watcha’ and ‘Cherry Cola’, alongside popular hits ‘Five Colours in Her Hair’, ‘Transylvania’ and ‘Shine a Light’.

McFly will be turning on the Trafford Centre Christmas Lights in Manchester, on Thursday 1st November.

This morning we had a live Twitter chat with the lovely Dougie and Tom from McFly and, at the risk of sounding like their elderly aunt… they were such nice boys!

We had an interview scheduled to talk to the pair about their new children’s book The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas, so we thought ‘why not invite our followers along for a natter too?’ The more the merrier. From 11 until 12 the questions came flying in, so much so we could barely keep up and, without wishing to brag (ok, well maybe a little bit), our hashtag #AskMcFly was the top trend worldwide. That’s WORLDWIDE people!

In case you’re wondering, the idea for the book stemmed from a combination of Dougie’s fascination with reptiles, Tom’s love for Christmas, and their mutual obsession with poop. As a result, as you’ll see from our full list of Q&As, these were the core, somewhat surreal, themes of our chat!

One question from @musicmcfly in Argentina (did I mention the worldwide thing?), that strayed from these topics and stood out for me, asked the boys to name their favourite children’s authors. Tom chose Dr. Seuss and Dougie went for the author of Animorphs K.A. Applegate.

I think everyone has at least one book that’s etched into his or her childhood memories. My favourite stories are intertwined with and, in some ways, are just as important as real life experiences. A quick straw poll around the office confirmed this theory and highlighted a selection of authors that we all love. Roald Dahl, Judy Blume and A.A Milne were a few of the names that kept popping up.

Roald Dahl was definitely one of my firm favourites. The Witches, The Twits, The BFG… all twisted tales packed full with deliciously dark humour. I loved that his books often dealt with grizzly sometimes scary subjects, not your typical, run of the mill, ‘child-friendly’ topics. I couldn’t get enough of them.

Which authors did you love as a child? Are there any books that you’ve passed on to your children? I’d love to know!
