McFly tell Dan Wootton about their year of reality.
Can you believe it’s been almost a decade since McFly burst on to the scene as fresh-faced teens?
They’re still making great music, but are also reality TV stars in their own right -Danny Jones, 26, on Popstar To Operastar, Tom Fletcher, 27, on TOWIE, Dougie Poynter, 25, on I’m A Celebrity and Harry Judd, 26, on Strictly.
And McFly babies may be just around the corner as Tom and Harry both got married this year…
"How has 2012 been for McFly?"
Tom: It’s been a great year. We ended last year on such a high with the reality shows.
Then we went on some writing trips. It was exciting to be back together.
"You wrote a book, too."
T: It’s been a reflective year because of that. That was very nostalgic because we looked over our career.
We also did our first shows in America. We don’t take any of the support for granted.
"Can McFly be together for another 10 years?"
Danny: Yeah. We don’t see an end. We see ourselves going on a Zimmer frame tour. We’re still so inspired and have so much hunger to do better songs all the time. The next album’s going to be really interesting.
We start writing in January and we’re back to the drawing table.
Harry: Drawing board, mate!
D: That’s what I meant.
"Harry, you’re about to be replaced as Strictly champ. Are you sad about that?"
H: It’s been such fun because once you’ve won it you don’t need to do anything!
It’s also been a really good year for us personally. There have been big changes in our lives.
Even stag dos!
D: Stag dos are the best.
H: There’s been so much to reflect on.
I’m looking forward to the New Year when we can just take a deep breath and think about everything that’s happened!
